E-mail setup for Android Phones

Follow our step-by-step guide to set up your e-mail account for Android phones and tablets.

Before you start...

Only your e-mail will be synchronized with your mobile device. Any calendar and contacts associated with that account remain stored on your computer.

Click Accounts

Step 1: Gmail Email Client

  1. Open your Gmail App.
  2. Tap on the top right circle icon
  3. Tap on Add Account / Add anbother account.
    If this is the first account you setup, it might look different, might need to start from step 2. Visuals may vary depend on device.

Enter E-mail Address and Password

Step 2: Email Provider

  1. Find Other in the list and tap it.
    Depend on device this could be IMAP personal or Internet Email, etc.

Set Incoming Servers

Step 3: Email Address

  1. Enter your email address
    This will be the e-mail address provided to you by Datacenta.
  2. Tap Next.

Set Outgoing Servers

Step 4: Email Type

  1. Tap on Personal (IMAP).
  2. Tap Next.

Step 5: Email Password

  1. Enter your password
  2. Make sure you have all the parts of your password
  3. Tap Next.

Set Sync Settings

Step 6: Incoming Server Settings

  1. This should be autofilled and you shouldn't need to add anything else
    Just check that its the right email address, password and server should be mail-01.datacenta.net
  2. Tap Next.

Enter Display Name

Step 7: Outgoing server settings

  1. Make sure Require-sign-in is on
    The rest should be correct, just double check the email address,
  2. Tap Next.

Step 8: Account Options

  1. Make sure to untick 'Automatically download attachments when connected to WiFi'
    Should avoid auto downloading anything from emails.
  2. Tap Next.

Step 9: Name your account

  1. Account name will be how it's shown in the Gmail app, against other accounts / address
  2. Your name will be for your display name against your emails sent.
  3. Tap Next.

Congratulations!

Your new e-mail address should now be up and running!
